“Traditionally, the Moontime is the sacred time of woman when she is honored as a Mother of the Creative Force. During this time she is allowed to release the old energy her body has carried and prepare for reconnection to the Earth Mother’s fertility that she will carry in the next Moon or month. Our Ancestors understood the importance of allowing each woman to have her Sacred Space during this time of reconnection, because women were the carriers of abundance and fertility…”
“As Grandmother Moon is the weaver of tides ( the water or blood of our Earth Mother) so a woman’s cycles follow the rhythm of that weaving. When women live together in a common space, their bodies begin to regulate their menses and all will eventually have their Moontime concurrently. This natural rhythm is one of the bonds of Sisterhood.”
“Women honor their sacred path when they acknowledge the intuitive knowing inherent in their receptive nature. In trusting the cycles of their bodies and allowing the feelings to emerge within them, women have been Seers and Oracles for their tribes for centuries.”
~Jamie Sams from Sacred Path Cards: The Discovery of SelfT hrough Native Teachings
In our modern culture, most women are taught our natural monthly cycles make us unclean, impure and that it is something to be ashamed of. Most of the education we receive about our Sacred Cycles is sterile, clinical and discussed in a manner that encourages women to see our period as an annoyance we must bear monthly. A curse.
In fact, our monthly bleeding should be a sacred time to slow down and pay special attention and care to our bodies. It was in ancient cultures a time women were thought to be most powerful. Our blood could defeat enemies, make crops grow, and grant protection. Menstruation was celebrated and women in some cultures would gather in special tents that existed solely for the purpose of menstruating women to stay and rest, meditate, and use this time to dream prophetic dreams.
When we bleed our senses are heightened, we are more intuitive, our Divine Feminine nature and power is surging. I implore you, take back this time of empowerment. Honor your body. Take a few extra moments for self care.
I realize that during this time it's sometimes hard to feel good. That is why on Moon day and in the hour of the Moon, I lovingly witchcrafted this Moontime Tea, so that it may ease the physical discomfort with healing herbs of Cramp bark, Chaste Tree berries (Vitex), White Willow Bark, Yarrow, Marshmallow Root, and Horsetail. Sip intently, reflect on this Sacred time and honor the cycles of death and rebirth.
*Tea is sold by weight. 1.7 oz in a 4x6 pouch.
