~✴~Asteria of happy name, whom Perses once led to his great house to be called his dear wife. And she conceived and bore Hecate whom Zeus the son of Kronos honoured above all. He gave her splendid gifts, to have a share of the earth and the unfruitful sea. She received honour also in starry heaven, and is honoured exceedingly by the deathless gods. For to this day, whenever any one of men on earth offers rich sacrifices and prays for favour according to custom, he calls upon Hecate.~✴~
Created on a dark new moon night, a time dedicated to the dark crone goddess. This creation was crafted with deepest honor to Hecate, goddess of crossroads, the wild places, and childbirth.
Hecate is a pre-olympian deity, who helped defeat the Titans and so was given a special place among the gods. She was so honored Zeus shared some of his power with her. She is depicted in triple form holding torches as she shows us the way or sometimes holding a key as she is keeper of gateways. With the faces of a horse, a dog, and a snake. In this triple facing form she can see all that was, all that is, and all that ever will be.
As a goddess between veils, protectress, and night wanderer she earned the titles Queen of Night and Queen of Witches. This delicate floral blend of Honeysuckle, Tuberose, Hibiscus and a hint of Myrrh pays tribute to this complex deity. I have added botanicals of Lavender and Poppy Seeds that are sacred to her. A chip of Carnelian graces this lovely creation, adding vibrations of courage, motivation and success.
